Religious Education

As a Catholic School we use The Way, the Truth and the Life as a basis for our RE teaching in school. However, the faith life at St Anthony’s is much more than what we can learn from any scheme.

Prayer is central to our school ethos; prayer and developing a personal and gradually maturing relationship with God. For Christians this will focus on the teachings and example of Jesus from the gospels.

We learn about the Sacraments and about the important feasts in the church’s year. Easter and Christmas are celebrated in a traditional way with church services and nativity plays for the younger children.

We have very close links with St Anthony’s parish church. We encourage the children to think about those less fortunate than themselves and try to support a range of charities.

All faiths and those with no faith are equally respected; children learn about the Christian faith and about other world faiths including Judaism, Islam and Hinduism.
