Dali – Year Five

Teacher : Miss E Wellsted

I am your class teacher for most of the week and my name is Miss E Wellsted I have had the pleasure of teaching here at St Anthony’s for many years.

Ms Brooks is also a class teacher in year 5 and takes the class on a Monday and teaches the Spanish lesson on Friday too. We are lucky to be supported, with all aspects of teaching and learning, by two teaching assistants.

Mrs Robinson is a very experienced TA and has been part of the school community for many years.

Miss Wellsted, who is new to the school, is blessed with youth and enthusiasm and hopes to progress towards a teaching qualification in the future.

Together we plan to make a fabulous team to teach and nurture your children as best we can.

Children learn best when they are happy. Feeling content and secure is vital to a child’s education.

A secure child asks questions, challenges ideas and is willing to make mistakes. We want every child to know that each of us brings something special to our classroom and we value all contributions.

We all have strengths and areas which need development, both of which are equally valued in Dali class.

In the Autumn Term, it is important to settle the children into their new routines and expectations.

You can help them with this by checking that they read regularly at home and reminding them to complete their homework on time.

Homework will predominantly be set online, so they may need help with usernames and passwords- all of which can be found in their reading record book.

Usually they will receive spellings, ‘mymaths’ and some sort of literacy activity each week. Homework will be set by Friday for the following Wednesday.

The children have PE on Tuesday and Thursday and will come to school in kit for the whole day.

Talk to your children everyday about what they have been learning in school. Ensure they get a good night’s sleep and are ready for each new day.

Most importantly, help them to have a happy and positive approach to school and learning and to value each new day.

Have a look at the curriculum map to see the focus for each half terms learning.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. You can use the school email address or for direct class contact, use the private messaging on ‘Class Dojo’ or ‘Google Classroom’.

I once again offer you and your children a very warm welcome and look forward to getting to know you all over the coming year.
